ISH Sportshall

Applied

In January of 2010 the International School of Hamburg moved into their newly built edifices in Hamburg-Groß Flottbek and assigned Nina Venus with the design of their Sports Hall. This long term project began with the painting oft the walls on the visitors terrace, each measuring 5 meters in length and 3 meters in height.

Further on the walls surrounding the spacious Sports Hall will be painted with the logo of the ISH Sports teams – the ISH Falcon. The architectural conditions as created by the Hamburg architecture office ‘biwer mau’ have been taken into close consideration and were incorporated in the design and elaboration. The student body and community of ISH represent over 40 nations worldwide.

This diversity is reflected in the design – it depicts the different disciplines practiced in competitive school teams, as well as the cultural variety of the students. Color and form of the concept aim to playfully juxtapose the architectural clarity, referring to the visual text of comics.
